Apparently my insanity has compounded since last I spoke here. Labels: apollymi, death note, doctor who, dotm, random babble, rpg, torchwood
For one, I've left Paradisa; it was getting to be too much for me to try and follow. However, I'm still playing Yagami Light in RP - this time in Econtra. I'm also playing Amane Misa, The Tenth Doctor from Doctor Who, and Lara Croft of Tomb Raider fame. The last two are from their canon universes, while the Death Note twosome are from an alternate 'verse.
For which I wrote fic. Yes. I'm that loony now. It and three other DN fics are located in KatsukoFic, which is my writing journal on LJ.
I'm also cowriting fic with Li again. We're doing a Doctor Who/Torchwood series of claims for 24 Hour Themes and thus far have one complete and one in progress. What's up so far is located in our journal Dragons of the Moon. If you're kind of "what the fuck?" over the name, it comes from my love for dragons (not just those from YGO, but all manner of dragons ♥) and Li's continued adoration for the anime Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon. Dragons + Sailormoon = Dragons of the Moon.
And that's all I've got to really babble on this time through. I'm off to read more fic.
Minor scratch on the previous entry. Labels: death note, rpg
I've just joined a new RP called Paradisa over on LiveJournal... as Yagami Raito (although I'm being "good" and using "Light" for English-speaking but "Raito" when he introduces himself in Japanese XD) so I suppose that means I'm kind-of-sort-of writing Death Note. Strange world, ain't it?
But Paradisa has some twists; it's paradise, but to get in you have to pay a price. Basically, the inhabitants have no idea how they arrived, and in many cases don't realize that they've lost something upon their arrival. Because the price of Cair Paradisa is to lose something that is key in your life... and it's panfandom, so there's someone from damn near everywhere (including life-action and games--there's even Firefly!)
The L in game is so much fun; the player has set his canon (or his life up until he entered Cair Paradisa) as up through Chapter 58 of the manga so he's died and figures that's how he got in. And he needs to sleep. A lot. His price was that insomnia that he's known for.
Which has already lead to a bit of confusion; my Raito's canon only runs up through the middle of Volume 3 of the manga, so he knows exactly who L is but has yet to meet Misa Misa. He basically went to bed one night and woke up in Paradisa. But his cost was any and all knowledge of things connected with the Death Note even though he still has it. He doesn't know what it is or where it came from, how to use it, anything about Kira or the case (although he remembers his father working a very important case)... or who, exactly, L is. All he remembers is the name "Ryuga" and that they were in the same university.
Yes, I am a colossal dork. Although I'm not writing for the fandom yet, I've changed the layout for the updates blog to a DeathNote layout. And, sadly enough, I've developed an odd fondness for Raito and L (and do not effing correct me that it's "Light," the boy's effing name is Raito so I'm calling him Raito. Lick me if you don't like it). So, yeah, they'll be living on the blog for a while ^__^
Well, some changes are coming up soon for the Asylum. First off, the new layout is almost ready to go, meaning that I’ll soon be uploading it to my domain. Likewise, Avarice is now complete and will be updated on the fiction page when I get the rest of the site update done. More than that, however; I've added about four more stories to Seasons of Love/100 Themes that will also be appearing on the page. Add to that the fact that, come February, I will be posting my novella entry to the site, and there will be plenty of new things to read. If you're a bit impatient in the meantime, drop by KatsukoFic on LJ and see what else I've been up to.
It's been a bit since I've talked here, eh? Life's been fairly hectic and I'm just impressed that I've been able to do the layouts in between everything else!
If you visited the site any during the previous month and a half or so, you'd have noted that I had a (gaspshock!) KaiJyo layout proudly living up there. It's quite possible that said layout will make a reappearance at some point in the future as I'm very pleased with how it turned out.
Now, though, there's another Azure*Gong inspired layout up. I made the switch in honour of the new-to-me doujinshi in my collection, Melt. All artwork appearing on the new layout is by Azure*Gong and the layout itself is fairly bloggish.
This is just a quick little question to guage interest; please feel free to comment.
If I were to open up a section of The Asylum devoted solely to web design and start taking commissions for site work, would anyone be interested? Basically I'm resuming my schooling to get my degree in graphic design and plan to freelance for a while. However, to do this I will have to create an online portfolio and have a bit of a customer base to start off with. I do free layout work for Apollymi, as I live with her so her payment is basically keeping me from living on the streets, haha.
Anyway, would anyone be interested in custom site work? For my anime layouts I tend to use screencaps or whatever artwork is provided to me, and I'm planning to branch into general photography layouts as well. Commission costs will start somewhere around $10 per hour that I work on the site (because hell, that's about what I make at the library and if I'm going to be putting time and effort into something, I want compensation for it) with payment due before I release the layout codings.
This is crossposted in public posts on my LiveJournal and GreatestJournal.
Yes, I know that I just (very) recently made a new layout for the Asylum. This is not stopping me from working on the next theme.
But, I need a little bit of help. See, this time for the main page header I'm using screencaps (this part isn't where I need help) and I want to make a comparable splash page. But... ah... the main section is more than vaguely KaiJyo.
...shut up. I don't despise KaiJyo, it's puppyshipping I can do without.
ANYWAY, I'm trying to figure out how to make the splash page. The last two layouts (Stolen Kisses and Beautiful Dreamers) incorporated artwork from the same doujinshi for both the splash and main pages. There are a severe lack of screencaps featuring Kaiba Seto and Jyonouchi Katsuya on screen at the same time, let alone within two feet of one another.
So basically, I'm asking for an opinion: should I set up the splash page like I've done with the main layout (individual 'caps done to look a bit like photographs), try to track down a shot where they aren't on the verge of fighting or stick with a doujin image? Comment with your opinions; I'm also going to pose this question in y!Gallery with a poll to garner some response.
Well, I finally have a semi-substantial update!
After over a month between chapters, Avarice has updated with Chapter Seven. This is the last chapter of the story aside from the epilogue; after that, I'm taking a short break to gear up for my final solo chapter in the Endless Loop universe, Endear. Once that story comes to a close, I will be co-authoring the (tentative) final book of the saga, Route 666.
Also in this update, I added a new chapter to Seasons of Love (for those who may have forgotten, SoL is my Thief/Jyonouchi saga) and included links to two more of my ongoing stories: Stand My Ground and Who I Am.
There will be another update soon, but I'm not sure just how quickly it will be coming.
Just a quick note to let everyone know that I've almost got the latest layout completed; I just need to go do a few cosmetic touch-ups on the fiction page and add the newest part to Seasons of Love and it's all set.
Also: Katsuko has succumbed to the Dollfie craze and is currently in the process of building two. The taller of the pair, a 27cm male with a slim Obitsu body, is awaiting the arrival of his head, eyes and hairwig. The shorter one, a 22cm male with a Volks body, is being shipped along with his eyes and wig. Also coming are clothing and paints for their faces (the Yami purchased us the gothic/Lolita colours as she's making two girl-types herself).
The boys' names? Jyonouchi and Yuugi. Although Yuugi's hair is so not going to spike everywhere--I don't have the patience to attempt that! No, I'm going to attempt to add in burgundy and blond to the black wig; if all else fails I'll canibalize a bit of my Edo wig for the blond in Yuugi-ningyou's hair and try to dye in the red parts. And I discovered last night that Jyonouchi-ningyou can fit into Barbie jeans. Literally; not the Ken doll pants, but Barbie's. Right now he's headless but wearing pink-seamed jeans and a teal three-quarter sleeve T-shirt. He doesn't seem to mind since he's got bad-ass black sneakers on at the moment....
Anyway, that's my babble. It's time for me to do my morning rounds and get the library open. Hopefully the new layout will be up this evening!
Yes, there is a new layout on the way for the Asylum. However, as I'm still unpacking from the move I have limited time to work on it. The image (another doujinshi scan from Azure*Gong's CROSSOVER) is placed and the layout has been modified in Dreamweaver, but I still have to reformat the stylesheet and get everything looking just so before it appears online.
Also, you may have noticed from the Asylum's splash page that I got the 2000 hit banner up. As I am at work, I can't pull up the name of the doujinshi that image comes from but can tell you that I got the original scan from zelas.net. Needless to say, the next kiriban will be at 3000 hits; I don't know what artwork will appear on it as yet since it's still in the future.
EDIT: Okay, the doujinshi the banner image came from is REHABILITATION and is Yami no Bakura/Jyonouchi-centric... including a TK Bakura/Jyonouchi section that makes me purr like a kitten.
Apparently while I was offlined for moving (we are in the new place but still in the unpacking process - Katsuko currently is without an actual bedroom as for whatever reason hers was allocated as 'additional storage' and thus doesn't even have room to roll out her futon) the Asylum made its 2000th hit. I haven't gotten any requests for a fic, so I'll just make up something for the hell of it if I feel up to doing thus.
Also, Angel and I are in the process of working on a new Dragons of the Moon collaboration. For those who don't know, DotM is the name we write under when the two of us are equally contributing ideas and direction to a story; this has happened only a few times though as, even though most of the Endless Loop Saga is being written by Angel (Color of Life, Blood and Sacrifice and Automatic Paranoia) and myself (Cursed Gold, Avarice and Endear) part of it is also being worked on by Desolate03 (Silver Blue) and therefore the Saga isn't officialy DotM. Our only other main work in progress at this point in time is Blind Eyes; the new piece has its own blog which is linked on the sidebar and is entitled Shadows of the Night.
I think that's about all. I believe it's about time for me to shuffle off to Angel's room and fall into bed; I go back to work tomorrow and am almost looking forward to the break!
Okay, there is going to be a fairly minor update to the Asylum in the near future. Here's what to expect:
And for those who may not know, I'll be offline for most of Thursday and Friday due to moving! Yes, we are leaving the godsforsaken rathole that is Governor's Square behind and moving to Bellevue Way. Much closer to work, much nicer place (townhouse! whee!) and no upstairs neighbours! All say woohoo!
Anyway, that's the buzz. Talk as everyone later!
Well, I am officially another year older, everyone. At least as soon as the time actually is 11:07 a.m. EST....
Anyway, as a birthday gift to myself I've added another link into the Miscellaneous section of the sidebar: Plot Kitties.
The Plot Kitties site was actually made by my yami, Eternal SailorM, but is shared by both of us as a place to write out plot bunnies so bizarre that they're actually kitties in bunny suits. The term 'plot kitty' was first used by Marika Ikeda, although the yami and I have sorta hijacked it in the long run.
Anywho, go check them out and if you see any that strike you as something you'd like to play with, just leave a comment to let us know.
And now I do a birthday dance. Bye bye!
If anyone reading this has yet to see Brokeback Mountain, I highly recommend you go see it as soon as possible. It's wonderful. No, it's not all hearts and flowers and shoujo bubbles like most a lot of boy/boy fanfiction; it's more the way I'd assume a 'real' relationship goes, with its ups and downs (a lot of downs!).
No spoilers, folks, but I will say this: I sobbed like a litttle bitch the last twenty or so minutes of the movie. And it wasn't over anyone dying per se.
That's the only microspoiler you get. Go see Brokeback.
Just a small update for today, folks.
The fourth part of my Thief/Jyonouchi series Seasons of Love is now up on the fiction page ("I Believe"). Also, there is a page featuring past layouts to the Asylum. These cannot be altered or used elsewhere since they're only image files, but I may be willing to help anyone out with their own web site if asked. However, I will have to come up with fees for such as I don't have thousands of hours of spare time on my hands if requests do come.
And that's about it. Take care, folks.
I'm slowly switching this baby over to a babble blog. Meaning, I may still include website updates but more likely I will be writing out stream on consciousness randomness that may be more than some people can handle. Approach with the utmost caution!
